Q&A with Dwarfhelm!

DwarfHelm is an and coming real-time strategy game with a twist! You have to work together in a team of 4 and defend and manage together to protect the dwarven city, here is a Q&A from the developers at DwarfHeim enjoy!

Rjboulton27:

Where did you get your inspiration from for this game?

Dwarfhelm:

The inspiration to the game originally came from “the hobbit” movie series, however the concept was very different back then. Basically, a towerdefense/RTS co-op hybrid.

Rjboulton27:

How do you progress through the game or is it a score-based system and why did you choose your progress system?

Dwarfhelm:

Our multiplayer features a matchmaking system and a ranking system. We want players to play against equally good opponents.

Rjboulton27:

What modes are available in the game, for example, is there a single campaign or a skirmish mode?

Dwarfhelm:

It will be possible to play single player in the sandbox mode and eventually a campaign that follows our game’s story.

Rjboulton27:

What type of audio will you be using will you be using digital or real sounds and where did you get the inspiration from also will there be any voice acting involved in the audio?

Dwarfhelm:

We will be recording as much as we can with live musicians and real sounds, but some sounds may have to be digital or samples. I get my inspiration from a lot of different places, like other game and movie composers, but also from traditional and classical music. And yes, there will be voice actors for a lot of the voices in the game.

Rjboulotn27:

Did you get any inspirations from other strategy games an example of this would be Dawn of War and Battle for Middle Earth? Does Dwarfheim have a map or an aspect which comes directly from your inspiration for this game?

Dwarfhelm:

The game mechanics are very similar to multiple RTS games, including DoW and BfME. But we also bring other mechanics from simulation games like Factorio and Dungeon Keeper to make our different classes more unique.

RJboulton27:

What consoles will this game be available on?

Dwarfhelm:

Pc, Mac and eventually Linux

Rjboulotn27:

Is there any gameplay previews available to the public?

Dwarfhelm:

Only the Miner class demo and teaser. If people interested, they can follow our social media / newsletter to get information as soon as possible!

Rjboulton27:

How is progress going in development?

Dwarfhelm:

Cooperatively! Progress is moving nicely, it certainly feels in the right direction.

Rjboulton27:

What do you think would appeal to first-time strategy gamers?

Dwarfhelm:

We are long time RTS fans here at the office, we did however find that RTS games are some of the hardest to just jump into and play. We have inhouse a “easy to learn, hard to master” attitude so we have tried to create a game that’s more readable and easy to learn. It’s also easier to try new things when playing with others

Rjboulton27:

Will there be a story in the game and if so is there anything you can tell me about it?

Dwarfhelm:

The story of DwarfHeim follows four different clans of dwarves that over the course of the story have to bound together to survive and search for the legendary lost city of the Dwarves, DwarfHeim.

If you like the sound of a real-time strategy game where you can work together, well this is the game for you!! Featuring a single campaign and takes some inspiration from the greats like DoW and LOTR. If you would like to keep up to date on any up and coming news of the game head to their website at  https://www.dwarfheim.com/ where you’ll find a lot more information on the 4 factions available and get a chance to sign up to their newsletter.
